- Energy provider becomes becomes new shareholder of Rockethome IoT service provider
- The Cologne company leads the way in connected building solutions
- enercity CEO Zapreva: “we’re expanding our range of services for our customers”

The energy provider enercity is taking the next steps on its digitisation path and becomes new shareholder of ROCKETHOME GmbH. The Cologne based company, established in 2010, ranks among the pioneers of the Internet of Things (IoT) and has evolved to a leading international provider of software-based solutions in the field of the digital property industry (Property Technology, PropTech). The aim of both partners is to play an active role in shaping the progressive digitisation of cities, districts, and property. In particular, the merging of competences is intended to enable the development of joint solutions which drive forward the energy revolution and support sustainable, connected living. The basis of Rockethome’s offering is a platform for connecting energy management, digital management and building automation which is in high demand throughout the industry. This is already being deployed all over Europe in forward-looking residential and commercial areas.

Expansion in our range of services for customers
“With the Rockethome service platform, we are expanding our range for customers and offer products which make life easier and more convenient” said enercity CEO Dr. Susanna Zapreva. “Property today is more than just concrete and steel – sensors are turning it more and more into a digital entity. The aim of Rockethome is to make the advantages of this development available to as many people as possible” said founder and CEO Yüksel Sirmasac. “I am pleased that we have found a strong partner in enercity, with whom we will be able to more rapidly open up the market potential and expand our spectrum of services with energy competences such as e-mobility
services.”

Long-standing collaboration: The first joint products are already on the market
Rockethome and enercity are connected by a long-standing collaboration in which they have already jointly launched innovative products. In addition to a digital solution for short-term rentals (temporary accommodation) and users of so-called co-working spaces (New Work Spaces), a 360 degree software platform for the property and housing sector was recently developed to marketreadiness. The enercity Property Manager enables property companies to create individual worlds of experience for their customers in the residential and working environment (digital property management). Using this they can advance the development of smart districts in cities and at the same time more efficiently administer their property portfolios.

Housing sector managers: reduced effort and costs
Business clients from the property sector benefit especially from digital housing administration and the resulting new contact points for tenants. Access to property runs in a connected way, landlords can release building and apartment doors for their tenants via mouse-click or via tap on a smartphone. After the tenant has moved out, owners or administrators can check whether all doors and windows are actually closed by means of a remote virtual check. And during the tenancy, they inform house residents almost in real time about faults, building work or incidents in the neighbourhood. The benefit: Processes become leaner, communication easier and the administrative burden is reduced.

Owners and tenants: more time for analogue living
The end-customers too gain more time for analogue living thanks to Rockethome: The digital door lock enables apartment viewings without time pressure, without agents and only when it suits. If they move in, tenants can equip their home with more smart components using a shop system. But the app can do more: is the lift out of order, the fridge broken, the heating malfunctioning or are there other damages to report? No problem: take a picture, write a note, and the order is ready.

Enlarging the shareholder group
As a strategic partner from the energy sector, enercity ideally complements the existing group of Rockethome shareholders with investors Diehl Ventures, KfW Bankengruppe, Born2Grow and founder Yüksel Sirmasac. This creates the optimal conditions for successfully expanding the company's growth.

Market potential consistently high
Revenues from the Smart Home market will be about 5.5 billion euros in Germany alone in 2021, according to Statista surveys. In the building automation segment, the consulting firm, Arthur D. Little anticipates a potential revenue of almost 21 billion euros by 2035. Market experts view the growth rate for Smart City solutions to be more than 15% per year by 2025. Enercity also predicts a booming market for automation and connection solutions in buildings.
